‘Survivor’ Fans Upset as Trump’s Address Interrupts Show

The recent episode of ‘Survivor’ faced an unexpected interruption, leaving fans displeased. CBS deviated from the original plan by cutting short the show’s extended merge episode to broadcast President Donald Trump’s prime-time address on the Iran conflict.

The President’s address aired at around 9 p.m. ET, causing frustration among dedicated ‘Survivor’ followers who took to social media to express their disappointment over missing out on the tribal circle segment. One user humorously suggested that President Trump should watch ‘Survivor’ to avoid such interruptions in the future.

Meanwhile, Canadian viewers experienced a surprise twist as Global TV, the network airing the show in Canada, decided to forego Trump’s speech. Instead, they aired a rerun of ‘Border Security: Canada’s Front Line,’ a series following Canadian Border Services officers, sparking confusion among viewers.

The 50th season of ‘Survivor’ premiered with a cast of 24 fan favorites, including Canadians Genevieve Mushaluk and Kamilla Karthigesu. The latest episode saw the departure of these contestants, along with veteran player Colby Donaldson, in a triple elimination. The season finale is scheduled for May 20.

This interruption isn’t the first time a presidential address has disrupted ‘Survivor.’ During the show’s 49th season finale in December, a similar situation occurred just before the crowning of the champion. Despite the delay, fans witnessed Savannah Louie emerge as the winner.

Notably, CBS had planned the interruption for the recent episode, assuring viewers that the show would resume immediately after the President’s address for Eastern and Central Time Zone audiences. West Coast viewers were fortunate to watch the episode without any breaks.

Apart from ‘Survivor’ fans, followers of other popular shows like ‘Chicago Fire’ and ‘The Masked Singer’ also faced interruptions for the President’s address. Interestingly, Mark Burnett, the executive producer of ‘Survivor’ from its inception, is also known for producing Trump’s reality show ‘The Apprentice.’
