Share

Phoenix Suns player Dillon Brooks was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence in Scottsdale, Arizona, early Friday morning, according to local law enforcement. Police conducted a traffic stop around 1 a.m. in Scottsdale, leading to Brooks’ arrest after an inquiry. Following the booking process, he was released from jail around 3:30 a.m.

The 30-year-old athlete, hailing from Mississauga, Ontario, has been sidelined since February 21 due to a fractured left hand, with recovery expected to extend at least until late March post-surgery.

In response to the incident, the Suns issued a statement acknowledging the situation and mentioned that they are in the process of gathering additional details with no further comments to offer presently.

Before the unfortunate injury, Brooks was enjoying a standout season in the NBA, averaging a career-best 20.9 points per game. He joined the Suns as part of the trade that saw Kevin Durant, a 15-time All-Star, moving to the Rockets during the offseason.

The Suns faced off against the Chicago Bulls at home on Thursday evening, just prior to Brooks’ arrest, and suffered a close 105-103 defeat in the game.

Initial reports of the arrest were first made public by TMZ.
