Stellantis announced a global recall of over 1.3 million Jeep SUVs and trucks due to fire risks. Owners are advised to park their vehicles away from structures or other cars until the issue is fixed. The recall affects Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator models from 2021 to 2025, specifically due to a potential electrical connection problem in the electric hydraulic power steering pump wiring. This issue could cause combustible materials to overheat, posing a fire hazard in rare cases.
The recall impacts approximately 1.08 million vehicles in the United States, 106,000 in Canada, 23,000 in Mexico, and around 125,000 in other global markets. Stellantis will conduct inspections and may repair or replace the wiring harness or electric hydraulic power steering pump as necessary. The company is expediting the remedy process and expects to have a fix available no later than July.
Although there has been one reported injury associated with the issue, there have been no accidents or deaths linked to this problem.
