“Hyundai Issues Caution on 2026 Palisade Seatbelt Risk”

Hyundai has issued a caution concerning the seatbelt system in certain 2026 Palisade models. There is a risk of damage to the wiring of the third-row, left-hand side seatbelt when it is pulled, as reported on Transport Canada’s Motor Vehicle Safety Recalls Database. This wiring issue can lead to a misleading seatbelt indicator, showing that the seatbelt is secured when it is not. The malfunction of the seatbelt status indicator could potentially lead to confusion and a higher risk of injury in the event of an accident.

Approximately 4,203 vehicles in Canada could be impacted by this seatbelt problem. Hyundai has pledged to inform affected drivers through written communication and recommend that they visit a dealership to have the seatbelt wiring repaired. Alternatively, drivers can check if their vehicle is affected by entering their vehicle identification number on Hyundai’s online recall lookup website or by calling 1-888-216-2626.

Earlier this year, Hyundai issued a recall for numerous vehicles in the U.S. and Canada and halted the sales of certain new Palisade models due to a separate issue. This problem caused some second and third-row power seats to continue moving even when they detected contact with a passenger or object. The recall was prompted by a tragic incident in Ohio where a two-year-old child lost their life.
