At the recent Juno Awards gala, Justin Bieber, despite being one of the most nominated artists with six nods, did not secure any wins. Instead, pop star Tate McRae dominated the evening by clinching four Juno Awards for album of the year, artist of the year, single of the year, and pop album of the year.

Hosted by CBC Music’s Damhnait Doyle and Odario Williams, the 2026 Juno Awards Gala occurred on March 28, presenting a total of 47 awards, including notable wins and debuts by various artists.

Notably, Toronto R&B singer Daniel Caesar snagged the first award of the night for songwriter of the year, surpassing contenders like Bieber and Tate McRae. Caesar, absent from the event, is set to receive the International Achievement Award at the upcoming Juno Awards and perform tracks from his award-winning album “Son of Spergy.”

Aysanabee secured victories for alternative album of the year and contemporary Indigenous artist of the year, announcing that this win may mark his last in the latter category to make room for other Indigenous artists. Toronto band Billy Talent was honored with the Humanitarian Award for their charitable endeavors over the past 25 years.

The Beaches celebrated their win for rock album of the year, expressing their gratitude for the Canadian music scene. Additionally, Sadboi, a Toronto-based artist, won the rap album/EP of the year and emphasized her pride in being recognized in her home country.

Several artists, including Kazdoura, Aaron Paris, and Debby Friday, achieved their first Juno wins in various categories, showcasing the diversity and talent within the Canadian music industry. Filmmaker Karena Evans received the music video of the year award for her work on “luther” by Kendrick Lamar and SZA.

Notable wins also went to Cameron Whitcomb, Tobias Jesso Jr., Lou-Adriane Cassidy, and a surprising tie between Begonia and Bahamas for adult alternative album of the year. Hip-hop legends Saukrates and Maestro Fresh Wes secured their first Juno wins after decades in the music industry, reflecting on their enduring contributions to Canadian music.
