The Oscar nominations have been announced, and if you haven’t been keeping up with the latest movies, now might be a good time to catch up, especially with the cold weather across much of Canada this weekend. Here is a breakdown of the films nominated for the prestigious Best Picture award at the Academy Awards this year and where you can watch them.

“Bugonia” revolves around two young men who are deeply entrenched in conspiracy theories and end up kidnapping a CEO whom they believe to be an alien set on destroying the planet. Starring Emma Stone, Jesse Plemons, and Aidan Delbis, the film is available for rental or purchase on Amazon Prime or Apple TV.

In “F1,” a retired Formula One racing legend is brought back into the world of racing to mentor a promising young driver. With Brad Pitt in a leading role, the movie can be streamed on Apple TV for free with a subscription or rented/purchased on the same platform.

Guillermo del Toro’s “Frankenstein” offers a fresh take on the classic tale of a scientist who creates a monstrous being with dire consequences. Featuring Oscar Isaac and Jacob Elordi, the film is currently streaming on Netflix.

“Hamnet” portrays the family life of William Shakespeare and his wife as they cope with the loss of their son to the plague. Starring Paul Mescal and Jessie Buckley, the movie, which won a Golden Globe, is currently showing in theaters.

“Marty Supreme” follows a table tennis athlete from the 1950s on a journey to greatness. With Timothée Chalamet in the lead role, the film is not yet available for streaming but can be watched in theaters.

“One Battle After Another,” directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, follows a former revolutionary who must save his daughter when faced with an old foe. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Sean Penn, the movie can be streamed on Crave or rented/bought on Amazon Prime or Apple TV.

“The Secret Agent” is set in 1977 Brazil and tells the story of a technology expert on the run from a dictator. Starring Wagner Moura, the film is currently only available in theaters.

“Sentimental Value” revolves around two sisters reuniting with their estranged father, played by Stellan SkarsgÃ¥rd, after their mother’s passing. The movie can be rented or purchased on Apple TV or Amazon Prime.

In “Sinners,” Michael B. Jordan plays twin brothers who return home to open a nightclub but face unexpected challenges. The film can be watched on Crave or rented/purchased on Amazon Prime or Apple TV.

“Train Dreams,” based on Denis Johnson’s novella, follows the life of Robert Grainier, a logger and railroad worker, during a transformative period in early 20th-century America. It is currently streaming on Netflix.
