Man ‘beat mum to death’ in ‘exorcism’ before sharing grisly photo on Snapchat

A man was found covered in blood and carrying a bible after allegedly killing his mum in what he called an “exorcism”.

Alexander Taylor Valdez, 23, from Fort Worth, Texas, has reportedly been charged with the murder of his mother, Teresita Sayson, 58, after she was found dead at a house in the early hours of April 18. Police had received a report at around 1.30am that morning from an anonymous caller who had received a photo in a Snapchat group of a woman lying on the ground “covered in something red, possibly blood”.

Officers went to a property where Valdez is understood to have answered the door with blood stain on his “face, neck, chest, torso, hands and feet,” according to a police report. He also had in his hands a bible and said to the officers that “it was an exorcism” before walking out of the house to a chair on the front porch.

When police asked Valdez why he was covered in blood he said he was “doing witchcraft to kill my mom,” according to the affidavit. And then when an officer enquired if there was anyone else in the property he replied: “There is a dead body in there, it’s my mum.”

Inside the house police allegedly found Ms Sayson in a main bedroom covered in blood having suffered trauma wounds to her “face and upper body”. She was pronounced dead at 2.53am, reported People.

Police allege that Valdez hit his mother repeatedly with a blunt object and found a broken jewellery box that had blood and hair which appeared to belong to Ms Sayson, in the bedroom. A dead dog was also found at the property stated the police report.

Valdez is understood to have sent a photo his mother covered in blood to the group chat on Snapchat before several other members of the chat went down to the house. One person in the group looked at the photo and is said to have told others not to open it while another made the call to the police.

Valdez was later taken down to a police station but refused to answer questions and called for a lawyer.

A neighbour Dana Adderley said her dogs woke her up on the morning of April18. “I came outside and the people that he had sent the group text to were all down there and this whole block was full of police officers,” she told Fox4 News.

Ms Adderley did not know Valdez or Sayson, but she was shocked to find out what happened. “You know that when they’re saying exorcism, you know they’re disturbed. There’s something more there,” said Adderley. “Pray that they’ll find peace somehow.”
