Country music icon Dolly Parton has revealed she sleeps with her makeup on to ensure she’s always ready for an unexpected emergency, such as an earthquake. The 79 year old star doesn’t want to be caught off guard if she needs to evacuate in a hurry.
Dolly shared: “I sleep in my make-up when I’m in California. With the earthquakes, I never know when I’m going to have to run out in the middle of the street. “I’m not going to be on the news and look like hell, which I do without makeup. So I leave a little bit on.
“The legendary singer, who boasts over 100 million record sales, also expressed her intention to continue working indefinitely.While acknowledging the potential benefits of artificial intelligence in music, she stated: “But I’d rather have my own voice out there, good or bad, instead of somebody recreating me using AI.”
The beloved performer, who recently lost her husband Carl Dean, vowed: “I will hopefully be working till my last breath. If I live to be in my nineties, I’ll be standing in these high heels and I’ll still be writing and singing.”
With an estimated net worth of around £500m, Dolly is known for her strong-willed nature and ability to stand up for herself. She elaborated: “I’m not afraid of men.
“I have six brothers, my dad, my uncles and my grandpas that I loved. I always stood my ground at home, so I figured I could stand my ground wherever I went It’s not easy to boss me around.”
She concluded by addressing criticism over her flamboyant style, saying: “All through the years, people have thought that I was too gaudy. Too this, too that. As far as how I wear my make-up, how I dress, I don’t care what people think.”
It comes after it was revealed that country legend Dolly laid down the law with pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter before their recent collaboration, giving the ‘Please Please Please’ songstress a stern heads-up.
Dolly set out four strict rules for Sabrina Carpenter prior to their team-up.Speaking to Knox News, Dolly made her stance clear: “Of course she can talk a little bad now and then. I told her: “Now, I don’t cuss. I don’t make fun of Jesus. I don’t talk bad about god and I don’t say dirty words on camera – but known to if I get mad enough.”
The country icon even went as far as tweaking one of Sabrina’s famously edgy lyrics.
