BBC viewers have been left fuming as the iPlayer has been down since this morning. Hundreds of fans tuning into the streaming site hoping to catch up on their favourite shows including EastEnders have been left disappointed as the site remains down.
Many users have been running into trouble with BBC iPlayer today, specifically encountering error code 34074. This error is typically linked to connectivity problems, though technical issues within the iPlayer app itself could also be to blame.
The BBC suggests a few troubleshooting steps: updating the app, ensuring your internet connection is stable, and reducing usage on other devices that might be hogging bandwidth.
Reports of the issue began surfacing just before midday, around 11:50am, and have steadily increased. By 1pm, more than 300 people had flagged problems with streaming content on the platform, with many saying the error code appears whenever they try to play a programme.
Several disappointed BBC viewers flocked to X, formerly known as Twitter to share their frustrations. One complained: “What the heck is going on with BBC iPlayer? I need to catch up on EastEnders.” Another echoed: “Ugh there always seems to be something wrong with iPlayer whenever I actually have time to catch up on my shows.”
Someone else questioned: “What’s happened with iPlayer in the last few minutes? It suddenly stopped playing on the tv with error code 34074.” While another asked for help by saying: “Is the iPlayer down. I can get in so far then each programme I click on say error code 34074 it does say the iPlayer will look a little different today but no programmes??”
“Hello, is anyone else experiencing troubles when trying to watch iPlayer? I have been trying to watch it all morning and nothing is working. Day is ruined because of it. So frustrating,” another asked. “Guys what’s going on with BBC iPlayer and whyyyyyyyyyyyy is it saying my internet is not connected when it is,” someone else shared.

It allows users to watch BBC TV and radio programmes, both live and on-demand, and to download some content for offline viewing. iPlayer is available on a variety of devices, including smart TVs, computers, and mobile devices.
The most popular shows on the BBC iPlayer this month have include Ashley Cain: Into the Danger Zone and new series like Ten Pound Poms and This City Is Ours. Other noteworthy options include Just Act Normal and Doctor Who.
